Short Description

Goblin Errands is a zany, no-prep tabletop RPG about a band of goblins going on errands and ending up embroiled in comical (mis)adventures.

Quotes

Goblin Errands is a sweet, light-hearted game about sweet, light-hearted creatures making a mess and having a great time. Martin's made a clever, thematic game with a lot of mechanical depth and, incidentally, a beautiful, innovative layout.

Dora Dee Rogers (deecity)

I wish I had written it.

Josh (Rise Up Comus)

You can tell when people put love into their game and that comes through.

JP Coovert

Full Description

Goblin Errands is a no-prep RPG for 2 to 4 goblins and one Tall Person. Together you'll struggle to complete seemingly mundane tasks for your community.

Buying vegetables at the market or procuring the services of a local wizard to get your wise leader unstuck from his chamber pot become tricky if you live in a world made for folk much bigger and stronger than you.

And on top of that you have only a single Braincell to work with and one that you have to share with your fellow goblins. Even otherwise ordinary, everyday tasks turn into hilarious misadventures.

Key Features

  • 52 full-color pages
  • 8 different goblin playbooks:
The Rowdy, the Rascal, the Whiz-Wart, the Rambler, the Ratter, the High-Speaker, the Square and the Nibbler
  • 6 goblin body stats: Hands, Legs, Eyes, Mouth, Frame, and Heart
  • D6 based complication-friendly resolution system
  • Single, shared Braincell mechanic to reward silly and funny ideas
  • Errand generator to enable no-prep play

Target Audience

Goblin Errands is a zany and family-friendly role-playing game. It doesn't need a lot of lore knowledge or features complex rules. Instead it focuses on telling fun and funny stories. This makes it perfectly suited for younger players or families.

But even experienced RPG-players can enjoy it. They can make fun of the tropes and cliches of fantasy gaming and it's no-prep nature makes it easy to pick up and run in-between other sessions.

Physical Edition

  • A5 staple-bound zine
  • 52 interior pages (80g)
  • 4 cover pages (170g)
  • About 80g total weight
  • Full-color print
  • Printed on FSC-certified, recycled paper

The Team

Goblin Errands was designed & layouted by Martin Nerurkar under the label Sharkbomb Studios. He also created the artwork for the initial version. As part of the kickstarter he has recruited freelance game artist Agata Bednorz to provide additional artwork as part of the stretch goals.

Development History

It started as a random, shitpost tweet in April 2021. The spur-of-the-moment idea was inspired by both the wholesome TTRPG Under Hill, By Water and the video game Untitled Goose Game.

From there the idea rested until #NaGaDeMon 2021, when the game was designed, written and playtested in the single month of Novemeber 2021. The final game turned out a lot less mischeivous and lot more wholesome as I rediscovered by love for goblins and combined it with my life-long interested in community.

It was released to itch and DrivethruRPG in December 2021 as a digital-only, early version.

A kickstarter for the game ran in Februrary 2022 as part of ZIMO. Its goal was a zine print run and more content for the game. Considering this was my first crowdfunding campaign, I consider it wildly successful because the 500€ target was funded in 4 hours and the final result was a funding total of over 1.500% funded.

CURRENTLY: The zine is available in many different stores!
